ALL ABOUT THE PROJECT
Below you can find extencive information about the project.
Entrepreneurship and Creativity
A challenge in rural societies is that young people move away from their local communities in order to find work and education. If we can make entrepreneurship more attractive for youth, they can make their living in the local communities when they grow up.
The rural areas in the Baltic Sea region have a great potential for tourism, food/agriculture developing, craft and art companies and other small companies working in new technology, like gaming and transmedia.
This projects aims to make young people understand that they can fulfill their dreams right where they are.
All partners will arrange entrepreneurship and media literacy courses and local workshops. During the courses/workshops, the young participants will get basic knowledge about entrepreneurship. In all regions, local Get the deal-workshops will be held, in order to prepare the young participants for a final, international Get the deal-workshop.
All partners will also arrange meetings and workshops with local companies, in order to develop the cooperation between companies and youth. One method that will be tested is so called speed-dating with companies. Representatives from local companies will be used as mentors for the young participants.
In RIBS, entrepreneurship will be defined in two ways: 1) Internal/inner entrepreneurship that deals with the personal and mental abilities that are needed when working in a business environment, for example initiative taking, team work, creativity, responsibility and risk taking, and 2) External entrepreneurship that deals with hard knowledge about finding, running and owning a company (planning a business idea, marketing, budgeting).
RIBS will have a pioneering approach to working with young entrepreneurs in the cultural and creative field. Art and culture is not only something that links people together but also a tool for developing a community, making people stay instead of leave, attracting people to visit a place or even move there.
Joint student companies
The basic knowledge about entrepreneurship will be tested in practice in the joint student companies (with members from at least two partners), which will be formed and work under supervision of teachers and leaders.
During the project, approximately 20 joint student companies will be established. The networks of young participants created during their work with the joint student companies can become the starting point for new, creative and competitive cross-border companies in the future. The teams will be coached in enhancing their business plan and in developing the necessary media and financial skills for the project.
The teams will develop their business ideas mainly by using ICT tools but also during cross-border exchanges, under supervision of teachers and coaches.
Exchange and sharing knowledge
During the project, one international workshop will be arranged in each participating region. Youth, teachers and leaders will have the opportunity to participate in one or several workshops, which all have different entrepreneurship themes and different approaches.
The final workshop will be an international Get the deal-workshop, where teams of young people will get the opportunity to compare their entrepreneurship knowledge and get feedback from “business gurus”. Each team is given a case from a company or business. The cases are real assignments based on the current needs of the companies. At the end of the weekend, the teams present their results. The Get the deal-workshop is the grand final of the project.
The young participants, teachers and leaders will visit the other regions in a smaller scale than during the international workshops. During the visits, the participants will take part in the daily work of the other partner, and in that way get to see, experience and learn more about best practices in a very concrete way. The visiting participants, especially teachers and leaders, can at the same time contribute with their expert knowledge to the other partner.
